Heaven & Hell: Altruism & Egoism

….. How true it is!! Have you exclaimed this on reading the title? No, don’t revert from your answer. Don’t be shy of it either; because we are brought up that way, it is not your fault. You are escaped from the blame now, take a sigh of relief. But this is the approach we agree upon; we always place altruism above egoism. The later one we consider as an evil and the first one we consider an ebullient characteristic of a human being. Do you agree on this also? No? Good you are now ready to recognize your self, your self a true human being, who is living for happiness and suffering is not part of your life. But if yes, let me help you in exploring you. Hold your breath…Ok Ok relax!
When did you last enjoyed (so called enjoyment) in a group of people? Yes, that one party of a person. Please collate some thoughts of these moments. Now let me brief you that moment for you. People surrounding you with glass of wine in hand laughing around, making fun of each other. Smile bursting into bigger and bigger laugh, is not it? Yes? Ok,so you think you have enjoyed that party laughing in the face only but have you observed that there was no laugh in you soul, stucked? So now you are on right track, now you have realized indeed the soul was not that happy. Hence there are rare moments in which you can be happy collectively, happiness will be and is attained individually. The same applies for other perspectives of life too, take achievements or some activities of yours.
When did you were happy about your achievements? Did you say after successful completion of your project? Ok, for which part of it you were happier about? No, the team effort is certainly not the answer. Let me tell you the truth that you were happier about your work, the work that you have so efficiently completed in strained condition. Now you agree with me.
Illustrating further let me tell you that you can not achieve your highest virtue collectively. We, as in society have been brought up so as to sacrifice ourselves. This way of life has been thrashed on us by second handler. According to Ayn Rand, the second handlers are the persons who do not produce anything and they are dependent on productive people for their needs. So they form relation with them and gave ‘Altruism’ as the name of that relation. Thus they exihibit sanctimonious attitude towards productive people/achievers concealing their failure. Don’t you think it is the slavery of oneself to depend on others for his/her needs? We are always told that human beings are in existence to serve the other, to serve the poor, to serve the second handler. In this process of second handler, as the society provides helping hand to poor, it itself creates mutual corruption amongst the human beings. Corruption because if the help would not have been occurred the person in need would have used his capabilities to serve himself, but as the ready help is available we shift into comfort zone of unproductiveness, thus the great gift ‘Thinking’ which he is blessed with goes in vanity. This is the skullduggery behavior of human beings towards the God. This approach may be fruitful at the present but will become despicable at the bed of death and then no one can help you and you will start mourning about it, then only you will realize profanity of your mundane attitude.
As no one can breath for you, you have to breathe yourself for your survival sake. Similarly no one can achieve something for you, ultimately you have to achieve it and you are the sole responsible for it. This approach gives birth to other attitude of human being, the attitude of self dependency. These people are not pliant to society and these people are ‘Achievers’. Achievers repudiate their achievements to second handler, they just can not see their efforts to be gone free and this attitude brings in egoism. This attitude is necessary to achieve whatever. They just do not care whether their attitude is boorish to second handler/society or not, for them their work is their supremacy and that is their way to attain God. They are not concerned with any person around them and their trades with other people come as trade of equi-balance. They do not support favors and for them it is the main cause of exploiting of one’s soul. These people are not always conspicuous and if they are, they are called ‘Egoist’.So now you have to decide what you want to be an 'Altruist' or an 'Egoist'.

Very interesting perspective you on here. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it. Honestly, I thought someone would notice it sooner.... or later. You do touch some good points in your post. I do agree with you that some people depend on others to meet their needs. The only way to achieve something in life is if we go and seek to meet that goal. Again, very interesting post. It makes a person think!
